Frequently Asked Questions About WEB-Based Education
What is the format of the course?
The courses consist of dynamic text, divided into units and sections.
The courses may also contain interactive assignments, including threaded
discussions, WEB research, journal entries, small group projects, and,
yes, an exam! Many of the assignments will draw on your experiences, thoughts,
and your institution. This is a great way to bring the lessons learned
to your institution.
Do I need to be on-line at a specific time and what are the time requirements?
The courses are delivered over a specified four-week period of time; however,
you do NOT have to be on-line at a specific time. Plan to spend 4 to 5
hours per week on the course, but select the times that are most convenient
to you. Hint: Take some time each day to go on-line to review material
and posted exercises. This will make it easy to keep up. If you fall behind,
it will be nearly impossible to catch-up.
What type of interaction will I have?
Through the exercises, you will have the opportunity to interact with
an instructor and other students. Seizing the opportunity to read and
respond to your classmates' responses is a valuable part of the learning
process. In this type of classroom, if you do not respond, you are not
there! You will also have the opportunity to interact privately with your
instructor through e-mail or telephone. However, we encourage as much
of the discussion to occur in the WEB classroom as possible. This benefits
everyone!
